If you landed on this page, chances are that you are already familiar with the benefits of celery juicing. Celery juice is known for its cleansing effects on the body and is becoming a very popular juice to consume largely due to exposure that it has been getting online and by #1 New York Times best-selling author Anthony Williams, who is the original promoter of the daily celery juice practice. He also goes by the name of the Medical Medium and his work, as well as his celery juice practice, has been praised by many, including famous celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Pharell, Sylvester Stallone, and Robert De Niro to name a few. Furthermore, an online movement has started on YouTube with several popular YouTubers and regular folks raving about the benefits and changes that they experience while drinking celery juice daily. He has no shortage of praise from the celebs.
What’s our take on it? Keep reading to find out.
We won’t go into too much detail about the benefits of drinking celery juice as there are some great resources that you can find online including this one from Medical News Today and the birth, science, and benefits of drinking celery juice on the Medical Medium Site as well as just about every question or concern you could have about celery juicing on their Celery Juice 101 post. So if you have any questions about the benefits, things to look out for, or how to make and store your celery juice, you can refer back to those articles for reference.
While some of the benefits have been somewhat overhyped and are mostly anecdotal, there is no shortage of people talking about them. Our take is that celery juice, like most other fruit and vegetable juices, is healthy and should be consumed regularly, along with a well-balanced diet and other nutritious foods, smoothies, and juices.

But if you want a full breakdown of why we picked these juicers along with shopping tips, alternative recommendations and things to keep in mind then keep reading.
Celery juice is not a cure-all wonder drink but if you are wanting to use celery juice as a way to get started juicing and to check how it will work with your body then it’s a great way to start juicing. So the main focus of this article we will be what kind of juicers are best suited for celery juice, and other things to consider when purchasing a celery juicer. Below is a quick breakdown of the article and its contents:
This leads us to our first point….
Why should you think about juicing more than just celery?
To be the rainbow, you gotta drink and eat the rainbow!
Of course, drinking celery juice has a lot of know benefits, it’s a healthy way to start the morning due to its cleansing properties which are healing for the body. But it’s not just celery juice that can do that for you. While we are not saying that you shouldn’t drink celery juice, what we are saying is that in the process of buying a juicer, keep in mind that juicing an assortment of fruits and vegetables has equally tremendous benefits, some that you might miss out on if you focus on only drinking celery juice. For that reason, we recommend that you look at juicers that will not only be good for celery juice but also make other delicious fruit and vegetable juices with ease so that you can get the benefits from juicing a variety of produce.
Starting off the morning with a tall glass of celery juice is a great way to go, but having a delicious juice to take with you to work, or enjoy in the afternoon is also a great way to stay healthy and get a variety of nutrients and minerals through the day. Celery is great for us but its just one shade of the rainbow of life and if you want to feel like a rainbow you have to eat and drink the rainbow :-)
Furthermore, the more you enjoy juicing, the longer that you will do it for, and let’s face it, as good as it is to drink a tall glass of celery juice in the morning, eventually most people will grow tired of it. Plus the last thing you want to do is to spend your hard-earned money on a machine to realize that after a while, you are all greened out and are just tired of drinking green juice. Because while some people won’t grow tired of it, some of us might end up feeling like the guy below after having only celery juice day after day for a long time :-)
So you will want to have a versatile, easy-to-use juicer that you can use to satisfy other cravings, keep things interesting and give you a little more variety. The best juicer that you can own is the one that will stay out on your counter and actually use, otherwise, you will get tired of lugging out a huge, heavy, and hard-to-clean appliance every day just to make a glass of celery juice. So our recommendations will keep that in mind so that you can get high-quality celery juice but also get a juicer that will be compact, easy to use, clean, and you enjoy juicing on will want to continue to use for years to come.
Why you should invest in a high-quality juicer
When shopping for juicers you will notice that there are several, what we would consider budget, fly-by-night brands. You want to stay away from those if possible, as they usually come with inferior warranties and are located overseas, so making use of the warranty will usually cost you more than the juicer itself. Not to mention, you don’t want to hurt your pocketbook or the environment by buying inferior products that you will end up in a landfill and that you will have to repurchase again and again because otherwise, you end up losing money in the long run.
We made this mistake when we first started making smoothies and thought that spending the extra money for a high-speed blender such as a Vitamix or Blendtec was too much. But over time, we realized that we were getting the worst of both worlds, not only were our smoothies not as good with the cheaper blenders but they constantly broke, making us have to buy a new one each year (which over time was adding up). Eventually, we took the plunge and invested in a high-speed blender from one of the reputable brands and we have never looked back. The smoothies are the highest quality possible, the warranty is a breeze in case it breaks and the best part is that they don’t really break because their warranties are so long, they are made to last. So when we finally decided to buy a juicer, we skipped past the cheaper non recognized brands and went straight for a high-quality juicer. Our juicer is still working like new several years later and we have never had any issues with it. So our recommendation is to spend the extra money to get a good quality product.
You won’t find any recommendations to inferior, low-quality fly-by-night companies in this article like you will with so many other articles online.
Many of those reviews are from websites that don’t actually juice or don’t do very good research on the brands and machines that they are recommending, so if you do end up going with one of those un-established brands, keep in mind that you are taking a risk on a product that might not last and that you won’t be able to get a warranty on. All the juicers recommended on our post have been either used/owned by us personally or have been thoroughly researched and tested for quality by other professional chefs, restaurants, and reputable third parties and are only from industry-leading and trusted brands that have been around for a long time, have a good warranty and return policies and have been proven to create high-quality products and results.
Types of celery juicers and things to consider
There are several things to consider when buying a celery juicer, mainly, speed, loudness of the machine, cost, and juice quality. Let’s break these down one by one to better understand which juicer is best for you.
There are two main types of celery juicers, centrifugal and masticating.
Centrifugal Juicers
Centrifugal juicers are probably the most common juicers. This is because they are typically cheaper and easier to use. This type of juicer uses a high-speed spinning strainer that has a stainless steel blade disc at the bottom. When you drop the produce down from the top of the machine, the spinning disc shreds all the produce into a fine pulp. This releases the juice and then pushes it through the strainer.
They are fast but loud
How fast you may ask?
Check out this short 6-second clip where you can see the Breville centrifugal juicer speeding through several stalks of celery.
While they are super fast at juicing celery and other fruits, the high speed of the centrifugal force creates a lot of noise, making them less ideal for people that want a quiet machine or that need to make juice while others are sleeping in the house. Their fast-spinning blades also tend to oxidize the juice more than other types of juicers because they create a lot of foam. Because of this process, the juice will have a shorter storage time and lose more nutritional content quicker. But when we say they are fast, we mean it, they are very fast and because of their large produce openings, they can blast through a whole head of celery in seconds.
They are not very efficient
Centrifugal juicers do present a drawback when it comes to juicing other items like leafy greens such as wheatgrass and kale. So if being able to make a variety of juices in the future is important to you, as it should be, they are less than ideal for those types of produce. They also are not very efficient at producing the juice, so you will end up with some wet pulp and a lower yield of juice, which ends up draining money in the long term. They can also be a hassle to clean, so while they juice quickly, the large mesh screen can take a while to clean, eating up some of the time that you spent juicing.
For that reason, we do not recommend centrifugal juicers, unless you can deal with the noise, can drink your juice right away and speed is your main goal.
Conclusion
Despite their drawbacks, these are very popular juicers. They work well for people that want to make a quick juice that they will drink right away, don’t really want to juice a lot of greens, prefer fruit juices, and don’t mind how loud they are when being used. We still don’t favor them though as they don’t produce the highest quality juice and don’t usually come with a long warranty.
Pros: Less prep time needed, juices fast, juices whole fruits, less expensive, juices fibrous veggies.
Cons: Not optimal for juicing greens, lower yield than a masticating juicer, noisy, juice doesn’t store well in the fridge, nutrients oxidize quicker, a shorter warranty, and can be tedious to clean.
Highly Rated Top Centrifugal Brands
Good: Breville BJE200XL Compact Juicer, Cuisinart CJE-1000 Die-Cast Juice Extractor
Better: Breville JE98XL Juice Fountain Plus
Best: Breville 800JEXL Juice Fountain Elite, Breville Juice Fountain Cold XL
This brings us to our next recommendation
Masticating Juicers
juicers are also known as cold-press juicers as their juice extraction mechanism does not produce heat. These juicers mimic the natural mastication or chewing mechanism of our oral cavities and use a screw-like auger to mash and chew the produce into the walls of the juicer, squeezing it through the strainer, separating the pulp and the juice. It is a slow-running juicer, which takes a little longer but creates less oxidation so it’s perfect for all kinds of produce, especially greens. The only downside to it is that the produce does need to be prepped before throwing it into your juicer due to the smaller mouth opening. This is especially true for celery juice as it is very fibrous and chopping into one-inch pieces is recommended when using these types of juicers but it is very quick and easy to do.
The auger chews on fruits and vegetables at slower speeds than centrifugal juicers. This slow speed significantly reduces heat and foam generation while increasing efficiency.
They take a little longer to clean and juicer
One of the few drawbacks of this type of juicer is that they take a little longer to clean, not a ton longer, with some practice the cleaning routine will take about 2 to 3 minutes total. Because they are slow-type juicers, they don’t operate as quickly as a centrifugal juicer but they are still quick to juice. But even though they take longer to clean, you can juice store your juice longer which also has its benefits. But even though they take longer to clean and juice, you can store your juice longer which also has its benefits, which brings us to our next point.
Better longer lasting juice
If you like crisp, non-foamy juice, then a masticating juicer is your best choice. Not only does the juice come out less foamy, but the slow mastication process of the juicer also produces less oxidation which is better for your juice and your body. Another good benefit of low oxidation is that you can store your juice longer. So if you are the type of person that likes to prep food and get a lot of juice at once, this is a great juicer for that. This is the type of juicer that we own and we like that we can set it up, run the juicer and come out with lot of good quality juice that we can store in the fridge and drink throughout the week. The juice that these juicers produce can last in the fridge for up to three days and still taste great.
They are very quiet
When compared to centrifugal juicers, masticating juicers are very quiet and won’t wake up your whole house if you are trying to make stealthy juice in the morning. So if you are looking for a quiet juicer then this is the way to go.
They last a long time
As always, you want to purchase your products from a reputable brand. There are cheaper versions of these juicers available online but you will notice that these new, fly-by-night companies only offer a 90-day to a two-year warranty. The thing to consider is resale value, overall value, and ease of warranty use. If you buy a juicer from an overseas company without a good reputation, you might have a hard time getting your product warranted, if at all, and shipping the product to them might cost you more than the product itself. We want to make sure that we are good doing our best to take care of our pocketbooks and the environment by buying products that will last a long time. The reputable brands in this space such as Omega, Hurom, and Tribest all offer a 10+ year warranty which means that their product is built with high-quality materials that will stand the test of time.
One thing to keep in mind
While this is our top recommended celery juicer, it is not the absolutely best hassle-free juicer when it comes to celery. It is the best juicer overall but to make your celery juicing experience as smooth as possible, it is highly recommended that you chop your celery into small quarter-inch pieces which is pretty fast and easy to do but it is an extra step. If you are juicing in the morning, you can do this step the night before to save time.
Vertical masticating juicers are our favorite
The reason that we really like this type of juicer is that it offers the best of all worlds. They are great at juicing celery because they produce a high yield, low foam, long-lasting juice that can be stored for up to 72 hours, they are small, easy to use, and can fit on the counter so that you don’t have to pull out a huge machine each time you want to juice, are quiet and versatile.
These machines are great for juicing all types of fruits and vegetables and their vertical design makes them a breeze to use when compared to other juicers. For those reasons, we highly recommend these types of juicers as they will not only make great celery juice but can grow with you over time as you start to experiment with other kinds of juices and they are easy to use and carry around.
Pros: Extracts more juice with higher nutritional value, less foam, juice last longer, quiet, less waste.
Cons: Takes longer to prep produce and make juice, is more difficult to assemble and clean, higher price tag.
Finally, Our Top Pick & Overall Best Juicer Recommendation Is…
The Omega Vertical Slow Masticating Juicer This is the type of juicer that we own and we love it!
Buy it directly from Omega or Buy it from Amazon
This juicer runs the most quietly, is the easiest to clean, and has the highest yield, lowest pulp, and longest warranty out of all of the vertical auger juicers that Omega makes, which makes it our clear winner and top pick.
We are not the only ones who love this juicer for celery
John Kholer who runs discountjuicers.com, has owned and tested several dozens of juicers through the years and juiced hundreds of pounds of produce. He also runs an awesome YouTube channel where he has spent hundreds of hours putting juicers head to head to see which one comes out on top.
After testing several top juicers, including all of the juicers in this post for the best overall celery juicing performance, he found that our top pick produced the fastest juicing time (only aside from the centrifugal juicers which we don’t recommend) and the second highest yield as well.
We really like the Omega brand because they have an excellent reputation and their vertical juicer that we recommend outperforms pretty much all the other vertical juicers in the market. But in case you are looking for more options, below are two additional trusted brands that make vertical-style juicers that offer comparable performance.
Other recommended vertical masticating juicers:
Tribest Slowstar Vertical Slow Juice
The Easiest Juicer For Celery
and why we don’t recommend it
Horizontal Masticating Juicers
These types of juicers are most likely the absolute easiest when it comes to juicing celery. From the quality of the juice, warranty, ease of use, speed, quiet operation, and cleanup, it’s hard to beat. But there is a reason that we do not recommend them. They don’t really work well for most other things. The small chute makes it to that you have to cut your produce very small to get it on the machine and it also requires force from the user to push the produce into the machine, so it’s not good for people with arthritis. This issue does not apply to celery as you can easily feed celery stalks into the juicer one by one and they will self-feed without any force.
The juicer does a good job of not getting jammed as well and makes the process of juicing celery a breeze. Cleanup is very easy and fast when compared to other juicers and they even make one that is designed specifically for celery.
The reason we don’t recommend them is that having such an expensive machine to primarily do just one task is not worth it in our opinion and other machines like our top pick above outperform it on the speed of juicing celery as well as the overall yield. Plus our top pick is very versatile and as you continue to grow into juicing and start to juice other items they will work great to help you on your journey to becoming healthier.
Pros: Juice stays fresh for a long time, has high juice yield and nutritional value, is quiet, super easy to clean, and the least hassle when juicing celery.
Cons: Larger & heavier machine versus our top pick, not as versatile overall to juice other produce, harder to juice other produce due to smaller opening, requires downwards pushing motion with included attachment for most other produce.
Below are a few video excerpts going over why its the best hassle-free juicer for celery but why it’s still not the top recommended juicer:
Recommended horizontal auger juicers:
Omega MM900HDS comes with specific attachments for juicing celery and is specifically designed to work better with celery: Buy direct from Omega, Buy from Amazon
Omega NC800HDS: Buy direct from Omega, Buy from Amazon

So what type of celery juicer does the Medical Medium Anthony Williams recommend?
Twin Gear Juicers
According to the folks over at Rawblend.com, the Medical Medium uses something called a twin-gear juicer. It’s very similar to the masticating juicer and its low-speed rotation protects the cellular structure of the produce. It has two gears that rotate inward with a very fine hairline gap, crushing and grinding produce to extract its juice. These are excellent juicers for their juice extraction as they are highly efficient at extracting the juice and therefore give you the highest yield. They also produce very little foam and just produce an overall high-quality juice.
So why don’t you recommend this juicer instead?
If you want to buy a twin gear juicer then we do highly recommend it but keep in mind their drawbacks:
-They have the smallest opening of all the juicers, so produce has to be cut very small to fit. This is not as big of an issue with celery stalks but it makes them less versatile for another kind of produce.
-They are very large and bulky so they either take up a lot of counter space or are heavy to around, so if you plan to store them off your counter make sure to keep that in mind.
-They are the most expensive on the list.
-They can take a while to clean and have a lot of little and large parts to clean.
-They require the use of a plunger to push the produce down the chute opening which can be cumbersome and take a lot of effort and time.
On the plus side, if you can deal with their drawbacks, they make excellent juicers and are also very good at juicing greens if that is something that is important to you.
Pros: Juice stays fresh a long time, higher juice yield and nutritional value, pretty quiet.
Cons: Takes longer to prep & juice, longer time to clean, not optimal for juicing citrus, higher price tag, larger & heavier machine.

Juicing Tips
For smoother juice, strain it.
If you like having super fine juice with no chucks then we recommend that you use a strainer on top of your container to make it easier to strain your juice. Most juicers will still have some pulp but it is easy to just put a strainer on top of your juice container and just strain the juice as it’s coming out of the juicer.
Drink your juice as fresh as possible.
The longer you keep your juice the more nutrition it will lose. So the best thing to do is to drink it right away. As long as you go with a masticating juicer, then you can get away with planning ahead and juicing large amounts of celery at a time and storing it in the fridge. With masticating juicers, we can store the juice for up to three days but of course, it’s recommended to drink it as fresh as possible.
Juice other fruits and vegetables.
Juicing can take some effort, but you will be rewarded with some amazing nectar that is sure to soothe your body and soul so it is well worth the effort. While juicing celery is good, make sure to juice other fruits and vegetables, remember if you want to be the rainbow, you have to drink the rainbow. Don’t focus all of your energy on juicing just celery and try out some other recipes so that you can get all the benefits of juicing. If you want to check out more recipes, you can check them out on our site if you click here.
Summary
So there you have it, our top recommended celery juicers for 2019. If you have a need for speed, are on a very tight budget, and can deal with a loud machine that has lesser quality juice, go for one of the centrifugal juicers. If you have the extra budget and want a quiet, versatile, and easy-to-use machine that will produce high-quality juice and can grow with you over the years then check out our masticating juicer recommendations. If you can deal with the plunger, small produce opening, heavyweight, and big size then consider getting a twin gear juicer that will produce excellent quality juice, furthermore if you want similar performance to a twin gear juicer but wants something smaller and more affordable then consider the Omega horizontal auger juicer which will give a comparable performance at a fraction of the price.
